I can tell you my life has changed 100%! I suffered from severe depression and many health problems causing me to hide in the house and not wanting to be around people. I started to work out and was reading some of the books. My husband and I were seeing an excellent therapist during this time. I was started to feel better so I switched over from the chemical anti depressants to the natural ones which took at least 6 months or more but it worked. By the time I had switched over I found out the real "truth" and although it has been a roller coaster ride I am not severely depressed now. I go out and have fun, travel and I joined a bowling league to meet new women. I have a better relationship with my family and I have reconnected with friends from HS.

exJW Psychology 104--One Way to Play the Depression Card
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite ini had an interesting conversation with bobby (*some names have been changed) last weekend.
he's also a successful fader going back several years before me.
but i found we had something in common that i hadn't realized.. bobby had never been particularly happy growing up.

We have been fading since last summer. At first I was going to DA but I didn't do it right away and have decided that if I do that I will be playing their sick game. This past week I had three phone calls and two drop by. I answered the phone but never answered the door. Sometimes I think it would be easier to just DA but then it is just a label they love to put on those that don't believe it is the "truth". So far it is working for us to just fade but I think that if they ever wanted to meet with us we would not show up and either let them DF us or go out on our terms and DA, either way the end results is the same, shunning!! I would take your time before deciding what you want to do and weigh your options. We don't answer the door when they come by and usually don't answer the phone when they call. They will get the point and leave you alone eventually.

"People often wonder if deaf people can drive, get married, or raise a family."
by cedars ini've personally never wondered that, but apparently some people do.... (see 00:40 in the video below).

Shyla, I was waiting to see what you had to say. I am glad someone in the field sees it for what it is, a Watchtower Commercial!

SUNDAY and my last illusions
by Terry indon't we all try to reconnect with old friends?
faded jw friends?
all those memories and years gone by....... .

Terry, you have a way with words. I am sorry your friend has had such a difficult life. Some people have many trials and tribulations and I am sure you brightened her day. Was she the same age as you? I hope you can get together with your group and I am sure it will make her very happy. I am going to my 40th class reunion next summer so it will be interesting to see who I recognize! I remember the first one I went to the guys were older looking than the girls because many of them had lost their hair or were gray already. Life sure does take us in many directions.

Anyone else an Ex Bethel "volunteer"
by BackseatDevil ini was wondering if there were any other ex-bethelites on here.
i personally regularly went for temporary work at brooklyn then was assigned to the farm for a year and a half.
it was... one of the most bizaare experiences of my life.. so i wrote it all down (finally, after some 15 years) so i won't bore anyone on here with the details of the story - because bethel doesn't show up until chapter 15... and for you straight folks, it gets a bit gay in two places... but nothing gross.

Backseat, I just started reading your story and had to tell you I was at the Astrodome in 1985 and got baptized there in 1986. My mil was raised in Victoria also. You are about my son's age and I am so thankful he was never baptized. So far your story is interesting and very well written,

Introducing Myself
by DilloTrace ini'm new to this forum and wanted to give everyone a shout out.
i've been a silent observer of this forum for a long time, but now i feel it's time for me to break the silence and get involved.
i've been inactive since november of last year.

Welcome Dillo Trace, I think you will find the more you read the more you will realize how many things were a big lie. JWFacts is a great site for finding out what was a false belief. My husband and I stopped going after last years DC. When they started to tell us we had to listen to the Elders, my husband about flipped out over that one. We left early on Friday and never returned! I am glad that so far your fade has been working, you had a perfect situation to fade.

How are things going Label? I hope you were able to stop the accusations and slander. We have had an elder call and some drop by the week the CO was here. The CO himself stopped by but we chose not to answer the door or phone. We are a year faded and I have no idea what they are saying about us and at this point I don't care anymore. As a matter of fact I had some sisters stop by today and again I chose not to answer the door. I hope you are doing well and you are getting back to fading successfully.

Making the Jehovah's Witnesses OWN THEIR OWN EVIL
by Terry indrunkards often scape-goat responsibility onto their drinking--as though it were morally defensible to cause accidents or death!.
serial drinking and driving is a plague on highways across the world.
drunkeness has been labeled as a "disease" and it isn't unusual.

Steve and Terry you have lost a lot. My sister and niece were hit from behind from a drunk driver going over 50 mph. When we were at the hospital emergency room with them the guy was brought in under police guard. I could smell the alcohol on him from the at least 30 feet away. I am thankful they were not seriously injured but I have a real fear from that experience. Terry, your kids were fortunate to have a Dad like you.
